Injuries Suck

So, over the past two weeks I got a pretty bad injury to the side of my torso. And I’ve learned a lot from the past two weeks about myself as a result.

It was the day after my previous blog post I injured my torse during boxing. The doctors said it was the amalgamation of repeated minor stress fractures from taking too many body shots along with pulling my oblique muscles as result of throwing a jab incorrectly.

The first 5 or so days was difficult. I couldn’t breathe without pain. I couldn’t get a full night’s sleep, so I was biding my team. I thought that okay a week off isn’t bad, but the pain wasn’t the worst part. I couldn’t do anything. I struggled to work and do my volunteering. In my spare time I have these projects I’m working on and not being able to work on them was frustrating. I’ve always had a weird thing where I get anxious with not being able to do stuff, I feel like if I don’t put my best foot forward and try my best, I’ll regret it forever. So not being able to do stuff really made me agitated, bored and just rubbish.

I also kept on getting worried as I know all my competition is training hard which urged me to get back to it. The thing is what you put in you get out. So, the last two weeks, I’ve missed is like giving my competitors and extra two weeks to improve. It’s tough. Especially in boxing, because when you get in the ring it’s just you and them uno. No one’s going to bail you out or do your work for you.

The irony behind all of this was that I was really tiring out from the intensity of training, I love it so much, but I was always sore, which comes with the sport. So, I would complain to a few of my friends, and I’d say that I just want a week off. Now that I got it though, I regret it and I just want to train a train hard again. It’s funny how things turn out.

So right now, I’m still sore but I’m able to walk, faster movements still bring a bit of pain, but I believe I can train now. So, I’m going to train tomorrow and hopefully I can manage. My body isn’t healed up for sparring but as soon as it is, I’ll be back. As the great Muhammed Ali said, “You don’t lose if you get knocked down, you lose if you stay down.” And best believe I’m not staying down.

If you guys are going through any struggles, the knockdowns will happen but NEVER stay down. This isn’t just boxing injuries or sports stuff but applies to all aspects of life. We’re all warriors in our own ways.

Thanks again guys for listening, hope you’ve enjoyed reading and see you guys soon.
